Wood Window Restoration

Preserve the character. Restore the performance.

Where the frame and sash are sound, we can remove the failed sealed unit and fit a new factory-made replacement, keeping the original wood window in place.

Our long-term viability standard

We recommend restoration only when we can stand behind 25 years or more of useful performance under standard conditions. When restoration cannot clear that bar, replacement becomes the responsible recommendation. This is the standard we hold ourselves to. It is not a warranty.

Two warranties stand behind the work:

· Workmanship: everything we touch on the window, the hardware, the frame, the seal and the caulking, is covered for 1 year

· Glass seal failure: every new insulated glass unit carries a 10-year supplier warranty, and if a seal fails in that time we redo the glass at no labour charge

· Both transfer to the next owner if the home is sold.

Every insulated glass unit we supply is argon filled with a desiccant in the spacer, for a higher R-value and better energy performance. Low-E glass is standard on every unit at no extra cost. The units are fabricated by an IGMAC certified manufacturer.

• Rotting or damaged frames, Repair or rebuild affected sections to stop deterioration.

• Peeling, faded, or damaged finishes, Sanding, refinishing, and sealing for long-lasting beauty.

• Loose or broken glazing, replacing glazing putty to improve insulation and stop drafts.

• Sticking or jammed sashes. Smooth, functional operation restored.

• Drafts and poor sealing. Weatherstripping and sealing for improved energy efficiency.

• Foggy or broken glass, Replacement with modern, insulated glass while keeping your original frame.

We Handle All Types of Wood Window Problems

How we restore your wood windows

Start with a diagnosis

Tell us what you’re noticing: drafts, rot, peeling finishes, sticking sashes, foggy glass. We start with the symptoms, not a price. No rushed quote, no pressure, just a clear first conversation about your wood windows.

On-site diagnosis

We assess your wood windows as complete systems. Seven components, one diagnostic check for each: the glass, the frame, the hardware, the weather seals, the exterior perimeter seal, the interior perimeter seal, and the installation condition. On wood we also assess the sashes, the glazing and the condition of the finish. We take proper measurements, explain what’s actually happening, and walk you through your options in plain language. You’re involved at every step.

Fabrication

Once you understand the options and we agree on the right path, we repair, rebuild, or refinish what needs it and fabricate any glass units, built to last, never cut to the cheapest spec.

Install Day

Our technicians complete the work cleanly and carefully, protecting the original character of your windows. We stand behind the outcome for years, and we don’t consider it done until it’s right.

At WRE, we’re not the fastest or the cheapest, and that’s on purpose. We’re a window and door energy-efficiency advisory company. We diagnose your windows as complete systems, explain what’s actually happening, and guide you to the right long-term decision: restore or replace.

What sets us apart is the process, not a sales pitch. Homeowners trust us because the diagnosis makes sense, the communication is clear and human, and we stand behind the outcome for years, long after the work is done.
