Retrofit vs. Brick-to-Brick: What’s the Difference?
A full window replacement can be done in two ways: retrofit or brick-to-brick. Retrofit installation involves inserting new windows into the existing frame, making it a quicker, more budget-friendly option when the structure is still in good shape. Brick-to-brick replacement, on the other hand, involves removing the entire window frame and surrounding trim, allowing for a full reset with new insulation and materials. This method is ideal for older homes or where maximum efficiency and structural integrity are desired. Our team will guide you in choosing the right approach for your space, style, and budget.

Retrofit Replacement: Ideal if your existing frames are in good condition. This method preserves the original structure while upgrading only the window glass and sash.
Brick-to-Brick Replacement: Best for aging or damaged frames. The entire window system, including the casing and insulation, is replaced to ensure maximum performance.
Energy-Efficient Windows: All of our replacements use high-performance glass units with argon gas, thermal spacers, and Low-E coatings to improve insulation.
Style & Finish Options: Choose from a range of interior/exterior finishes, grille designs, and hardware options to complement your home's look.

The diagnostic assessment
We assess your window as a complete system. Seven components, one diagnostic check for each: the glass, the frame, the hardware, the weather seals, the exterior perimeter seal, the interior perimeter seal, and the installation condition. Each one can be the thing that is actually failing, and that is what tells us whether a retrofit is enough or the opening needs to come back to brick.
If you already know what you need, or we can identify it together on the call, we will give you a realistic investment range and book a visit to confirm scope and measurements. There is no charge for that visit. If the cause is not clear, we will recommend a full diagnostic instead: thermal imaging on site, and an inspection from both the interior and the exterior. That is $350 plus HST, and it may be credited toward an approved qualifying project.
WINDOW SELECTION & APPROVAL
We help you finalize window models, finishes, and features. Once everything is selected, we provide a detailed quote. Upon approval and deposit, your order is placed with our supplier.
FABRICATION & SCHEDULING
Your custom windows are manufactured and delivered to us. We’ll coordinate the install date with you and prepare the site, ensuring your home is ready for a smooth replacement process.
INSTALL DAY
Our experienced technicians carefully remove the old windows, prep the openings, and install your new window system. Whether retrofit or brick-to-brick, we seal everything tight and clean up thoroughly afterward.
